The Karen Harvey Prize Committee of the AAS Solar Physics Division has selected Steven R. Cranmer of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory to receive the 2006 Karen Harvey Prize. The Karen Harvey Prize, established in honor of the late Karen Harvey, in awarded recognition of significant contributions to the study of the Sun early in a person's professional career. The 2006 Karen Harvey Prize is awarded to Steven R. Cranmer for his major theoretical and observational contributions toward understanding the roles of waves and turbulence in heating and accelerating solar wind plasma.
The Harvey Prize Lecture will be presented immediately after the Tuesday morning coffee break.
The Hale Prize Committee of the AAS Solar Physics Division has selected Peter A. Gilman of the High Altitude Observatory to receive the 2006 George Ellery Hale Prize. The 2006 Hale Prize is awarded to Peter A. Gilman for his unique insights and substantial scientific achievements in understanding the dynamics of the solar convection zone and the mechanism of the Suns magnetic dynamo and for his leadership and support of solar physics research programs.
The Hale Prize Lecture will be presented immediately after the Thursday morning coffee break.

The banquet, scheduled for Wednesday evening, will be a traditional New England clambake at
Foster's Downeast Clambake
in nearby York Harbor, Maine. Bus transportation will be provided. The clambake will feature
chowder, cultivated mussels, freshly-dug steamed clams, one 1-1/8 lb. Maine lobster, fresh corn on the cob,
roasted red bliss potatoes, roasted onions, rolls, hot drawn butter, and Maine blueberry crumb cake. A barbecued half
chicken featuring our own sweet and sour hickory sauce may be substituted for the lobster, upon request. A vegetarian option
is available that includes Eggplant Parmesan, fresh corn on the cob, roasted red bliss potatoes, roasted onions, rolls,
and Maine blueberry crumb cake. Corn chowder is substituted for clam chowder and a tossed salad for the steamed clams.
The clambake also features live entertainment. There promises to be a little Downeast humor and a lot of laughs.
